Rob Moir + Non Canon + Laura Elizabeth Johnson at Wildflower Kitchen, Cardiff CF14 3LX
£4 or more

A gig on Tuesday 24th October. The event starts at 18:00.

Toronto’s Rob Moir looks back at five consecutive years of life on the road with the release of his third album SOLO RECORD (Northern Americas – Canada, Make My Day Records – EU, released November 16, 2018). The writing, which took place in Melbourne, Australia during some rare downtime from the road, sees the new material staying true to Moir’s brand of honest songwriting and clever turns of phrase in his lyrics.
SOLO RECORD is a stripped down, back-to-basics effort that would fit nicely in a record collection next to Bruce Springsteen, The Replacements and Wilco. It features songs like ‘Sometimes You Gotta Go‘, where Moir reassures a younger version of himself that it’s okay to follow his passion and that against all odds, a version of living his dreams can come true. In ‘Love Is A House On Fire‘, Moir sings of what it’s like to regret waiting too long to express feelings to a loved one.
Moir has toured Europe with Grammy-nominated Neko Case and shared the stage with fellow alt-folk artists such as Frightened Rabbit, Frank Turner and The White Buffalo. With solo performances at international festivals BIGSOUND, Music Matters and Live at Heart, as well as multiple successful tours in Australia, Canada, Europe, UK and Japan, Moir has proven his ability to silence rowdy audiences with his intimate performances, quick humour, and captivating stage presence.
