A
event
held at Watershed
on Tuesday 18th March. The event starts at 18:00.
Have you ever wanted to make your own video game or visual novel, but haven't known where to start? Have you already made a bunch of video games and want to meet other folks and talk about hobby game dev? Or maybe you want to learn to code through making games?
This meetup is for you!
We will be showcasing some small personal (and queer) games made with free software and hosted on the web, and talking a bit about the tools that are available to us, and want we've learnt from developing games as a hobby. Then we'll have some time to start building your own game (using either Godot, Bitsy or Downpour).
And for those interested in keeping the fun going, we'll be taking part in the Ludum Dare game jam in April! https://ludumdare.com/
This event is suitable for anyone regardless of your coding or creative ability.
Please bring a laptop if you would like to do some game dev with us, or feel free to come along if you'd just like to hear more.
// Location //
We'll be in the Pervasive Media (PM) Studio at the Watershed. There is step-free access via a lift, but is a bit hidden away in the building, so here’s some directions - if you get stuck ask a member of staff where the PM Studio is:
* Go to the cafe/bar
* When looking at the bar, you’ll see some double doors to the left of it
* Go through these double doors, past the toilets. Follow the corridor further along and there will be a doorbell to ring for the Pervasive Media Studio
We will also be send out contact info before the event so please check your spam folder!
