Winter Artists Residencies Showcase at Watershed
See event details

A event held at Watershed on Friday 28th March. The event starts at 18:30.

Join us for an evening of experimental art and conversation (and free drinks and nibbles!) with our 2025 Winter Artists in Residence, Nat Whitney and Geraint Edwards who have been exploring this year's theme: Actual Reality.

Our annual Winter Residencies Programme programme offers artists the space to research and develop ideas at Pervasive Media Studio, our creative technologies research hub. This event will introduce their work-in-progress, featuring artist talks, a Q&A, and the chance to engage with their explorations.

About the Theme

This year’s residencies explore the theme of Actual Reality where the focus is on rethinking how technology can deepen our connection to the physical world. While digital tools were once imagined as a way to free us from screens, we now find ourselves more tethered to devices than ever. How can art and technology help us reconnect with our surroundings and each other? By taking computing beyond the computer, our artists investigate new ways to create shared, tactile experiences in the real world.

About the Artists

Nat Whitney (they/she) is an audio-visual participatory artist. Their project, Meeting Point, investigates new ways of connecting with ourselves, our surroundings, and each other in the digital age. Expanding on a prototype of interactive sculptural beings, Nat explores how art and technology can create more tactile, shared experiences beyond screens.

Geraint Edwards (he/him) is a self-taught interdisciplinary artist. His work, Plugholes examines how personal and collective stories shape our understanding of the world. Building on past works that embed digital art in physical spaces—like ACT I SCENE II, where streetlights performed Romeo and Juliet in Morse code—Geraint continues to create hidden artworks that offer unexpected moments of reflection.
