"FAKA is a project by Fela Gucci and Desire Marea, exploring “black queer bodies, navigating the cis-hetero-topia of post-colonial Africa.” Closely linked with labels like NON and Janus, their recent Amaqhawe EP is a conceptualised take on Durban’s Gqom sound, though when we caught their Euro debut at Unsound, it was something closer to Sunn O))) soundtracking a Ball. A
clubnight
held at Thekla
on Friday 29th June. The event starts at 21:00.
It's official. We're bringing the iconic FAKA to Bristol for a full scale night of sweaty underground sound and expressive performance, across both decks at Bristol's premier party boat Thekla.
Bring your truest self on board for our biggest unbound, anti binary summer dance party EVER! Cannot wait ♥

FAKA is the performance duo and cultural movement conceived by artists Fela Gucci and Desire Marea. They established the project to express their experiences as black queer bodies navigating the cis-hetero-topia of post-colonial Africa.
Mun Sing is the juddering solo project of Giant Swan‘s Harry Wright, challenging the conventions and aesthetics of modern day club culture. Dance routines, obnoxious visuals and brash costumes combine to highlight inclusivity, movement and fun.
MX World is the project of South London-based musician Poppy Tibbetts. Her work crafts traditional songwriting, sampling, sound collage and audio-processing into a unique ethereal sonic atmosphere, driven by her powerful vocal presence.
Marikiscrycrycry is creating S[ ]P[ ]A[ ]C[ ]E to dance another materialisation for *teardrops*; rejecting binary images in order to motorise the conditions and queer rites for survival; surviving in order to speak regardless of prevalent regimes of erasure; excavating the body that will be (post)humanised.
Ifeoluwa is a multifaceted DJ renowned for her R&B club cuts, regularly found dipping into post punk and UK techno on NTS Radio.
