Wych Elm at The Trinity Centre
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Huge hometown headline show for these sublimely sinister 90s slacker revivalists. Wych Elm craft hefty brooding grunge steeped in eldritch imagery, like a folk horror Sonic Youth. Catch ‘em before they haunt the world stage. FFO: Mannequin Pussy, NewDad, Slutever, Snail Mail, Hotline TNT. "

A gig held at The Trinity Centre on Thursday 15th May. The event starts at 19:30.

Bristol's three piece wych elm, formed in 2017, create an atmosphere of Hitchins’ feedback squalling guitars, heavy drum fills and punch bass accompanied by Elliman’s haunting lyrics and screeching howls. They conjure menacing and contemplative grungy indie rock with a touch of the macabre.

Wych elm were formed back in 2017 when Caitlin Elliman and Jack Hitchins were attending college together. Throughout secondary school and college they found themselves sharing mutual interests such as playing live music and listening to Pixies, Queens of the Stone Age and reading unusual literature from “the Manna bookshop”, a small hidden bookshop in their town where you could find anything from philosophy to satanic cults. Elliman and Hitchins wanted to birth a project that would let them harness and release their mental health struggles and act as a release in their own personal and weird way.
