A
gig
held at The Trinity Centre
on Sunday 6th April. The event starts at 16:00.
NEW DATE - 6TH APRIL
Spoonie Rave is a multisensory feast for tired and sensitive folks
A party for soft heads and big hearts
Expect puppetry, music and performance in the Fyfe hall at Trinity Centre, with space to rest, engage comfortably, slow down and take things at your own pace.
Alongside live performances we’ll have puppet making and non-alcoholic drinks in the bar. There will be a library and a dedicated space to chill, and an atmosphere that encourages and supports slowness.
This is a relaxed event, you’re welcome to come in and out of performances as you wish, stand, sit, lie down, stim, be still, move and rest in whatever way feels good for you.
Masks are required at Spoonie Rave, to protect each other from COVID-19, flu and colds that so easily spread and can greatly affect our spoonie kin. While the world turns its back on safety protocols, let’s protect each other like the spoonie punks we are.

Acts:
Bean Pig Puppets
Bean Pig Puppets are a collective of queer puppeteers and performers who believe in the life of all things. Beanpigs expand the imagination as a revolutionary tool, inviting audiences to dream other worlds into existence through the power of objects. Their performances are surreal rituals that facilitate the lives of puppets, ultimately allowing the puppets to choose how the story unfolds.
Neogaze
Neogaze is the experimental electronic project of Nigerian-Welsh solo act Neo Ukandu. Neogaze brings to life their creative voice through anthems of self-acceptance and queer identity. They will be playing downtempo and dream pop influenced sounds merged with Bean Pigs surrealist puppetry.
Kwiet Boize
Normally doling out abrasive improvised skronks as half of no-wave supergroup Yoke or in their duo as Noisy Boize, Rebecca Sneddon (saxophone) and Jo Kelly (double bass) have rebranded as Kwiet Boize to bring some gentler extemporisations to the patrons of Spoonie Rave.
Dan Johnson
Dan Johnson is a percussionist working in improvised sound and expanded composition. Undermining conventional notions of drumming, his experimental work is manifested across a wide range of projects; from eight-hour solo improvisations responding to instructions provided by the audience, to invite-only performances in rail tunnels, lifts and public toilets, to non-hierarchical group improvisation project Ecstatic Drum Beats. Running through this multifaceted output are consistent concerns with balancing chance and control, exposing performer-audience relationships, and the demands of discipline and physical endurance. Deeply rooted in Bristol’s DIY scene, where among his innumerable collaborations he was a mainstay of Dali de Saint Paul’s sprawling power-improv vehicle EP/64, Dan has brought the same spirit of openness to live and recorded work with artists like Moor Mother, Ximena Alarcon, Valentina Magaletti, Rattle, Yama Warashi, GNOD and Surgeon.
Mr Hopkinson DJ Set
Closing with chilled spoonie tunes.
