Cypher X Cypher - Concept Breaking Jam

Date: Saturday, 30th November
Location: Trinity's Fyfe Hall, Trinity Centre, Trinity Rd, St Jude's, Bristol BS2 0NW

We are hosting our second Concept Battle at Trinity Centre’s Fyfe Hall. This isn't your typical breaking battle, it's a callout-based cypher event with no qualifiers and no set brackets, just open exchanges, battles, and cypher. Breakers and dancers from any style can come to have fun and exchange, or challenge each other in various categories and games throughout the day!

Cost: Free Entry. Although, there will be a possibility to cash in for £3 tokens to make callouts and/or register to different categories and games (maximum registration is 5 tokens per participant, £15, we won’t allow you to go broke!). As a participant you will be able to cash out as many tokens as you earn. As a spectator, you can contribute tokens to battle categories you would like to support!

Format: In this event, there will be 2 or 3 large open cyphers where dancers can freely participate (plus any other cyphers you are up for building up). Two of these bigger cyphers will be guided by the hosts, who will help facilitate callouts and battles. Dancers can coordinate callouts by agreeing on an amount of tokens to win, selecting a judge or judges from their cypher for their exchange (not from your own crew!), and deciding on the battle format. For example, battle formats could be solo (3 rounds max), crew-based (5 rounds max), focused on specific elements (like power or footwork), records, stacks, or any concept participants agree on. Tokens earned can be cashed out at the end, providing a fun incentive to challenge others and push yourself in battle.

Event Overview:
Doors Open: 16:00 for warm-up
Cyphers Begin: 16:30, with ongoing callouts, no finals. The format includes multiple categories like 7 to smoke-don't trust the judge, Bonnie & Clyde, Records, stacks, 16 counts battles, and more!
End Time: 20:30

This event is open to dancers of all styles, though the main focus is on Breaking. Everyone is invited to join in on the cyphers.
