Saturday - 27th UK Sacred Harp Convention at The Trinity Centre
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Free entry sacred choral gathering - the beating epi-centre of the UK’s annual practice of this singular folk phenomenon. With its maudlin lyrics, dizzying fugues and ear-shattering volume, Sacred Harp is still in rude health worldwide - come see what all the shouting’s about. "

Please join us for the 27th UK Sacred Harp Convention in Bristol!

Sacred Harp singing is an unbroken 175-year-old tradition of powerful a capella music from the USA. The Convention is the biggest event of the year as a chance for people from around the country (and the world!) to join together in (extremely loud) song. Everyone is welcome to watch, listen and sing – no experience necessary!

We will be singing at the Trinity Centre 10am-4pm, with a social to the Stag and Hounds pub from 7.30pm onwards.

This is part of a whole weekend of singing. There is also a singing school on Friday and another full day of singing on Sunday!

If you've never tried Sacred Harp before we're holding singing schools on the 3rd and 10th September at Faithspace 7-9pm so that people can learn the basics ahead of the convention.

Covid policy: All attendees must take a Covid lateral flow test before they arrive each day, and bring a picture of the negative test (or the test itself).
