Its been a few years, but they are back in Bristol. The COSMIC CHARLIES are playing the Thunderbolt on Feb.22. For over 20 years, they have been honing their skills as the leading interpreters of the music of the Grateful Dead.
Fronted by notable guitarist Jerry Garcia, the Grateful Dead were at the forefront of the wave of psychedelic rock music coming out of San Francisco in the 1960s/70s.
The Charlies weave a kaleidoscope of close knit soundscapes which have delighted audiences both in the UK and the rest of Europe. Named after a song by the Dead and formed by guitarist Brian Kenneally back in the 1980s, they have gone through various lineups with the present core of the band being much the same for the last few years. Brian interacts with'space' guitarist Andy Scoffin to produce a very british take on the Dead music.
All their shows in Bristol have gone down a storm so put on your tie-dyes and your dancing shoes and get down to the thunderbolt for some cosmic rhythm n' blues.
