In partnership with The International Booker Prize, we will be hosting shortlisted translators for the 2025 award in conversation about their nominated books and literary translation in general with the prize's administrator, Fiammetta Rocco. The conversation will be accompanied by readings and a Q&A.

This event will be exclusive to the festival, and the full line-up will be confirmed after the shortlist is announced on Tuesday 8th April.

Doors open at 6:15pm for a 6:45pm start. The event will take place at The Station, BS1 2AG on Saturday 17th May.

ABOUT FIAMMETTA ROCCO
Fiammetta Rocco is the Administrator of the International Booker Prize. She is a writer and a critic. She grew up in Kenya in a Franco-Italian family and read Arabic at Oxford. She has been a judge of the Samuel Johnson Prize, the Booker Prize and the Royal Society Science Prize. In 2018 she chaired the judging panel for the Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction. She is the author of The Miraculous Fever Tree: Malaria and the Cure that Changed the World. She is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.

ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL BOOKER PRIZE 2025
The longlist of 13 books – 11 novels and two collections of short stories – was chosen by the 2025 judging panel, chaired by bestselling Booker Prize-longlisted author Max Porter. The other judges are: prize-winning poet, director and photographer Caleb Femi; writer and Publishing Director of Wasafiri Sana Goyal; author and International Booker Prize-shortlisted translator Anton Hur; and award-winning singer-songwriter Beth Orton.

The list celebrates the best works of long-form fiction or collections of short stories translated into English and published in the UK and/or Ireland between 1 May 2024 and 30 April 2025, as judged by the 2025 panel. The judges made their selection from 154 books submitted by publishers – the highest number since the prize was launched in its current format in 2016.

The International Booker Prize recognises the vital work of translation, with the £50,000 prize money divided equally between the winning author and translator/s. In championing works from around the world that have originated in a wide range of languages, it fosters an engaged global community of writers and readers whose experiences and interests transcend national borders.
