Ponchartrain Album Launch at The Star and Dove, Totterdown
Suggested contribution £3, or buy the CD !

A gig on Saturday 25th January. The event starts at 21:00.

On 25th January 2025, all major planets in the solar system will form a harmonious lineup, creating a gravitational and energetic pull that resonates on Earth. Such alignments are rare and often seen as harbingers of new beginnings. Think of it as the universe pressing a giant "refresh" button’… and the release date of the new PONCHARTRAIN album!

‘DANCIN’ SHOES’ is the band’s second album - a follow up to 2016’s ‘LONESOME JOURNEY’. What took so long? Front-man PAUL GODDEN: “Well we tried to make it the ‘difficult second album’…. Global pandemic, open heart surgery, trying to learn a fourth chord… but in the end it came down to wanting to get every track right.. and that took time, as it often does in Bristol!”

The 13-track album was recorded and mixed at Heath Gordon’s ‘Cellar Sounds’ studio in Bristol. “Heath is a very patient man, and though we sorely tested him, he didn’t crack, and after lots of starting again, ditching stuff, trying different approaches to capturing the band’s live feel but with some extra bells and whistles, we got there… it was a steep learning curve!”

The band’s line-up is…

Paul Godden: Vocals, guitar, dobro, steel
Jean Godden: Fiddle
Stig Manley: Guitar, mandolin
Rick Holbrook: Bass
Tim Robinson: Drums

On the album they are joined by special guests HENRY SLIM (Slimline Shufflers) on harmonica, and JOHN BAGGOTT (Robert Plant, Waterboys, Portishead..) on piano and accordion. We hope they may be available on the night...
