Hypnagogia for Holocene at The Pulp Room, St Anne's House
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Sell out warning! Hypnagogic pop fav t l k performs a sensual love letter to Bristol’s most mystical and underappreciated green hideaway. Using field recordings and analogue photographs from Nightingale Valley as a starting point for this slice of pastoral sonic escapism, t l k is always a must-see FFO: Björk, Grouper, Stanlaey, ML Buch, Jabu."

Hypnagogia for Holocene.
A live music & photographic experience

A curious and special one off show from artist-vocalist t l k who shares a long-form lullaby of found sounds and poems from Bristol’s Nightingale Valley.

Hypnagogia is the transitional state from wakefulness to sleep, the place where dreams emerge.

t l k is a Bristol-based artist, vocalist and producer. Their practice centres the voice-as-instrument, in live, recorded (Ableton) and hybrid contexts, with palettes formed from found rhythms, analog synths and vocal layers. Their roots are in choral polyphony, blended with soundscape composition, electronics and audio collage. At the core is a deep commitment to the act of noticing and iterating.

Esther May Campbell is an award winning artist working with film and photography. She explores the links between image-making, story & play while creating compelling images and films for public transmission. Intrigued by the potential to co-create via play, myth, ritual and old analogue photography, images emerge that are moving and alarming.

Recent work includes a set of art/photo prompts called Bewilderment Cards, a photo-book made at St Paul's Adventure Playground called Scrapbook, and book Water Salad on Monday that documents Elm Tree Farm.
