Mindful Drawing and Sound at The Ottowin Shop
See event details

A event on Thursday 1st August. The event starts at 18:00.

Join Artist and Sound Therapist Amber for a chance to explore their mindful drawing techniques and a bespoke meditation as part of the TapuKala pop up at The Ottowin Shop!

The basis of the workshop is an introductory meditation with singing bowls, followed by a drawing workshop. In the workshop you will get an introduction to using drawing as a technique for grounding and centring yourself with some short experimental exercises.

Our venue is the wonderful Ottowin Shop on Gloucester Road, which hosts a beautifully curated selection of handmade homeware and clothing. Our drawings will be focused by observing the setting, so it is a beautiful and unusual place to do this - this workshop will also be inspired by the playful and summery, carnival inspired style of Tapuh and Mahika Kala clothing.

Playfulness is very much encouraged in this workshop. Materials will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own materials too (expect pencils, crayons, paper and some mixed media to be provided, they may vary in each session). A sketchbook is recommended if you have something you usually like to work in, our paper is mostly A5 sized but you can do this in whatever format feels good for you.

In the workshop you will gain insight in to an approach rather than a classical art class, and have opportunities to ask the artist questions throughout.
