A
gig
on Wednesday 10th January. The event starts at 19:30.
Dear Friends,
We’re very pleased to announce the next instalment of GUD instinct! And very exciting it is too. This is the first show in a new series of gigs we’re working on called Table Music - there’ll be music, a small little bit of chat, some improvisations and collaborations all nestled in the homely warmth of St George’s The Orchard Coffee and Co; who are also going to be providing delicious soup and drinks to keep you warm and satiated.
Our inaugural Table Music features the brilliant Modular Synthesis explorer: Lupo. Many of you will be aware of Alex Lupo from bashing the drums with Bristol legends Babyhead, perhaps you know him as an extraordinarily accomplished music therapist, or maybe you were at Shambala and loved the music for the finale show- well that was Alex Lupo and Benji Bower. Even keener eyes and ears will recognise Alex from Terra Coda, Benji Bowers beautiful orchestral project (also featuring a full JOW cohort), on which Alex headed up drum bashing and the modular synthesiser dept. Alex has also worked extensively in the theatre world and we’re extremely lucky to squeeze this gig in before he goes off to London on a thespian adventure with PJ Harvey… So, come shake off the January blues with Lupo and your hosts JOW.
The evening will be an interesting one and a bit of a testing ground for the Table Music idea. We’re going to start with a modular synth “DJ set” - grab drinks and soup from the lovely team at the Orchard and enjoy being serenaded by Lupo’s sounds. Then we’ll all come together for a Venn diagram second half with tunes, collaborations and improvisations between Lupo and JOW, and a smattering of chat and discussion.
Tickets are tiered at £8/10/12
12 - a bit more than the standard price but helps us to subsidise a ticket for someone else
10 - this is the recommended ticket price and means we can pay everyone involved fairly
8 - a subsidised option for those that cannot afford the higher ticket price
