The Grand Finale of our Birthday Party double Header celebrating five years of the Old Picture House. Come and see ‘St Louis Blues’ – a 1958 musical based on the life of WC Handy (1873-1958), who is considered to be the: 'Father of the Blues'. The film features Nat 'King' Cole, Eartha Kitt, Mahalia Jackson, Ella Fitzgerald, Cab Calloway and other great African American actors of the day.

This classic black and white movie will be introduced by Dave Merrick and Natalie Davis of ‘Small Days’ with spoken word and live blues from the period plus some history and explanation of WC Handy and the classic (women’s) Blues. The seating is cabaret style. There will be a bar and snacks.
