Experience Seeta Patel Dance’s The Rite of Spring, Indian dance married with Western classical music performed by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, in a unique, vibrant screening.
Performed by six dancers, including Seeta Patel herself, the South Indian classical dance form of Bharatanatyam, with its intricate rhythmic footwork, geometric and dynamic movements and expressive prowess, transforms Igor Stravinsky’s iconic ballet. Normally seen as a solo dance form, Seeta Patel Dance’s The Rite Of Spring is a rare chance to see contemporary Bharatanatyam performed in an ensemble.
This version was created, filmed and recorded alongside the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra specially to be projected, creating an epic audio and visual experience. Seeta Patel Dance’s The Rite of Spring comes off the stage and on to local landmarks and buildings, animating these spaces and bringing the drama of the theatre into new realms, allowing audiences to experience The Rite of Spring in an entirely unique immersive yet intimate way.
