A gig held at The Louisiana on Thursday 23rd May. The event starts at 19:30.

CHEWY SHE

Trash-electric-disco outfit CHEWY SHE just released their Debut EP “ Run after boyz”.

The wonky carnival that is CHEWY SHE is a Lynchian utopia, that radiates innocence despite its absurdist critiques of the modern world.

This spirit is best expressed at their live shows, which feature exuberant costumes, supreme musicianship, and the initiation of all present into the darkly ironical, theatrical, and immersive universe of CHEWY SHE.

CHEWY SHE has featured on BBC Radio 6 playing a live session at Maida Vale For Cerys Matthews, sold out twice their show the Moth Popera, performed on stage with Mathieu Boogaerts, and supported space-psych band Henge on their UK tour.

With the reckless spirit of punk combined with a disco groove, their shows of avant-garde musical theatre is a feminist search for mind-blowing sex without emotional ties, questioning the social norms around relationships, embracing the surreal, while acknowledging the fundamental human need for love. A show for all the sex-positive men and womxn of today who follow their own desires, f*ck the patriarchy, and look for their own ecstasy.

It’s a winding journey that is made with good companions of humor, poignancy, impeccable timing, and some incredible costumes.

The critically acclaimed band is on stage throughout, and the barriers between audience and performer are broken down by the expert manipulations of the Queen Moth herself, ably assisted by her rampant, inhibition-free dancers, and the philosophical questionings from the Formless Form - a voice from beyond. The show is brought together by a team of female, queer, and queer-friendly creatives, giving a platform to supreme musicianship, physical theatre, deliberately awkward comedy, and innovative visuals. The result is a show which will titillate even the most impenetrable soul - to laugh, to dance, to question, to share, and perhaps even be a little aroused.

TRY ME bio:

Try Me is a genre-nonconforming girl-boy duo comprised of Hector Boogieman and Bendy Wendy based in Bristol. Their style is best described as alt-pop, combining funky bass lines with catchy vocal hooks and an electronic underbelly. Lyrically, they often play with conventions around gender and sexuality. The result leaves you giggling at norms and feeling a little more free.

Entry requirements: no age restrictions (under 18s to be accompanied by an adult over 21yrs, 1:1 ratio)
