Alpaca Presents
Thousand Yard Stare

Thousand Yard Stare were originally active between 1989-1993, releasing a slew of EPs that reached the top of the Independent Charts (Wonderment, No Score AET, Buttermouth, Wideshire) and a National Chart Top 40 (Comeuppance) before signing to Polydor Records and releasing two LPs, Hands On (1991) and Mappamundi (1993).

TYS toured extensively across the world, including with James in the UK, Jesus & Mary Chain in Europe and Soup Dragons in the US, as well as coveted festival appearances at the likes of Glastonbury and Reading... then, nothing. From nowhere, the band reformed in 2015 for a triumphant and rapturous one-off show in London, reviving a passion that had lain dormant for over two decades. The band continued their sojourn, gaining plaudits and a growing new audience for their energetic and inclusive live performances, with further headline tours, appearances at Shiiine On Weekender, Rockaway Beach, Indie Daze, PennFest and Gigantic, an annual London residency and tour supports with the likes of House Of Love.

Unlike many of their revivalist ilk, TYS have continued to create and release new material, including two EPs, followed by two studio LPs (their first in in 23 years) - The Panglossian Momentum (2020) and Earthanasia (2022), both described as a “triumphant return” across the media, and gaining support from the likes of BBC 6 Music.
