"Free entry / PWYC! Tugboat Captain’s songs sound like the beauty of life seen in retrospect. The London-based baroque-pop band observe domestic acts with blithe sensibility and pack their music with aphoristic whimsy. Hugs and chuckles on rotation FFO: Real Estate, Andy Shauf., Beirut, catching up with an old friend."

GRAVY TRAIN & BLG PRESENTS:
------ TUGBOAT CAPTAIN ------- www.instagram.com/tugboat_captain
London-based Baroque-Pop band Tugboat Captain, has evolved since its 2017 beginnings into a unique force in the city’s music scene. Their new album, Dog Tale, is a reflection of the band's journey, exploring the multifaceted concepts of home, domesticity and love through the lens of living in London as a creative, and was recorded in their studio, Ctrl P, a recording studio frontman Sox and bassist Joshua Cobb run together. Initially formed as a lo-fi solo project by Sox, the band’s sound has shifted from guitar-driven roots to a more complex, baroque pop style, influenced by everything from Guided by Voices to Barry Manilow. Their live shows, now backed by a versatile lineup of musicians, blend spontaneous creativity and musical experimentation. Dog Tale was created in a week, capturing the band’s ethos of freshness and organic energy, with lyrics that reflect Sox’s personal search for stability in an unstable world. Featuring playful and poignant references to animals and life in modern Britain, the album represents a new milestone for the group, marking both a return to their roots and a forward leap in their ever-evolving sound.
------ LIFTER ------ www.instagram.com/lifterbristol
LIFTER released their first album ‘Clasping Hands with the Moribund’ in October ‘24, taking musical cues from a diverse range of sources, including slowcore, folk, country, and indie rock, and deftly showcasing this throughout this latest release.
------ IMMY ------ www.instagram.com/immyxvx
From the hills outside of the city, immy’s solo project of home recorded indie folk, sounding somewhere between 70s LA and Pavement’s lazy rock, found its way onto BBC radio and hundreds of thousands of streams from around the world.
Now a full band made up of their best friends, they bring the soft and not so soft, tear jerkers and foot tappers out to play in the real world.
