Calling dancers, movers, performers, and actors! If you want to develop improvisational skills to create movement, imagery, and text for performance, come to this creative workshop. The focus will be on an embodied approach to creating imagery derived from a range of themes related to Dust Ensemble’s current production, ‘Goat Song’, a unique blend of movement, text, and music.
This workshop will delve into the process of performing improvisational scores and developing interactions through movement, text, objects, and imagery. Under the guidance of our experienced director, Mary Steadman, you will deepen your creativity and generate ideas through an emergent process. You will have opportunities to work in smaller groups and pairs to construct movement/text scores and explore composition in creating imagery/text.
Get ready for an immersive experience that will engage your body and mind. Our workshop fosters a playful, open approach to exploring dynamics, interconnections, and impulses that arise from the individual within the ensemble. It will be energetic and focus on the body in a somatic warm-up to connect with our sensory and kinetic bodies. Music is vital to exploring feelings and sensations and releasing individual responses through movement.
Join us for a unique opportunity to work with Dust Ensemble, formed in 2023 by Mary Steadman, its artistic director. Mary, with over 30 years of experience devising, performing, and teaching workshops nationally and internationally, will be leading this workshop.
