"Sell out warning! Leather dykes down in the police cells! And not a cop in sight (hopefully)…..just kinky dress codes, riot girrrl DJ sets + Soft Butch’s Lexx, Adeevah from Booty Bass and Misscoteque’s own Ladygrey serving you high NRG club-bangers across the dance-positive UKF / reggaeton / electro / ballroom / baile rainbow spectrum. A
clubnight
held at The Island
on Saturday 8th July. The event starts at 22:00.
The first pride was a riot.
Queers party in the face of oppression.
What better way to celebrate Pride than Butch Bar's takeover of the Old Police Cells at the Island. Entrance via Bridewell street.

Let’s reclaim space, power and celebrate queer love together.
Our tribute to the leather dyke community:
Butch Bar is a community group that puts on parties, workshops and monthly meetups with and for our community. Butch Bar is a supportive, friendly, safer space that is women, GNC, trans and non binary celebratory. We've been inspired to create this event by the butch and stud scene featured in Rebel Dykes documentary.
PLEASE NOTE this is not an actual play party, just an awesome club night.
*Dress kinky*
Show off your favourite queer leather garms. Extra points if they are handmade! Feel free to get your kink out. There will be no gatekeeping on what you wear. Make sure you feel comfortable!
*All queers welcome*
You do not have to be butch to attend. This event is for the whole queer community- friends, family, and any who appreciate and celebrate butchness are all invited. If you think this space might be right for you, IT IS FOR YOU!

*Safer Spaces*
As a group, Bristol Butch Bar is about creating solidarity & community, holding butches & their GNC & trans histories. Our rule is that everyone at our events or in our online spaces must be kind & respectful.
We are working with a Queer security team to provide security and welfare for this event. We have a community safety working group set up with volunteers from the Butch Bar community.
*Venue*
The Island, Bridewell Street, Bristol. BS1 2QD
Side Entrance on Bridewell street.
There will be an outside set up in the old exercise yard, where you can sit and chat, smoke and get some fresh air, before you head back in to dance.
There are two old police cells inside, one set up as a quieter soft space, and the other an archive installation.
The Island is run by Artspace Lifespace an arts charity that takes over disused spaces and converts them into art studios.
The space is based in the old Police Cells in the basement and is unfortunately not an accessible venue for wheelchair users. The basement may be accessible from an alternative entrance where a ramp is located but please note there is a steep gradient, the venue cannot be accessed unassisted, and there are no wheelchair-accessible toilets in the venue.
*Tickets*
We have 3 different tiers of ticket prices, depending on your wage.
If you can't afford a ticket please email [email protected]
Any profit we make will go back into our community group to run workshops.
