Eddy Martin accompanied by soundscape guitarist Philip Gibbs tells the story of two massacres of unarmed protestors, at Bristol Bridge in 1793 and Peterloo in 1819.
Eddy Martin, Narrator. He has been the narrator with the StoryMongers
since their first show, the epic tale of Beowulf. Since then they have gone on
to perform The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner, The Pit And The Pendulum,
The Tell Tale Heart, The Raven, The Ballad of Reading Gaol and others.
Eddy is an actor who has performed at The Bristol Old Vic, The Tobacco
Factory and The Ustinov Theatre.
Philip Gibbs, guitar, has produced a series of ground breaking recordings as
composer and guitar improviser, and played on well over sixty with
heavyweight jazz groups including internationally recognised players -
William Parker, Paul Dunmall, John Serry, Roy Cambell, Keith Tippett, Hamid
Drake, Markus Stockhausen, Paul Rogers, and many others. His approach to
guitar performance includes many extended techniques and preparations,
which he uses to great effect in his work with the StoryMongers. He has
been described in recent reviews as a master of six or seven performance
styles, and regularly receives excellent critical notices from downtown New
York gallery.
