A
gig
held at The Golden Lion
on Thursday 5th September. The event starts at 19:30.
QUICK ROMANCE
It’s time, Brothers & Sisters, to be seen on the scene with Quick Romance.
Hayden James, on lead guitar, and Bruno Bof Wilkinson on bass are the rock’n’roll bookends that were Wayne Kramer and Fred “Sonic” Smith, redrawn for the here and now. The boys see themselves as “two straws in the same Coke” (other gut-rotting, thirst-quenching, shit-coloured drinks are available).
Quick Romance singer, Matilda Scotland, slapped Ian Hunter down in the first round to relieve him of his shades, which she now wears proudly as she warns us of the perils of growing up in a big bad world. She likes clothes, music and Brian Jones’s hair.
Making more signals than Thomas The Tank Engine could shake a drum stick at, drummer Oliver Bull-Lifely, moves like a wind chime in a tropical storm, he is the time-keeper’s time-keeper. Unlike the White Rabbit, you can’t set you watch by him, but who wears a watch these days?
If you want to know what you are about to experience, why don’t you try imagining Poly Styrene joining The Sick Things for a chorus of “Bondage Boy”. If you don’t want to know, why don’t you…
And, for the record, teen punks Quick Romance will sing for Scotland Yard… if the price is right.
CULT PYTHON
Alt-pop/indie rock-n-roll swagger coming out of small-town Southwest England. Debut single How To Not Go To Hell is out now - jagged, Tarantino-tinged and satirical with a warped 1950s charm, HTNGTH was recorded at Humm studios in Bristol with producer Dominic Mitchison (Heavy Lungs, The Manatees) and mixed/mastered by Kristofer Harris (Saya Gray, Indoor Pets).
LANNA
A new project from 21 year old Alannah Jackson (half of local legends Miss Kill) combining a range of genres through her songs.
