This April John Waters turns 76! To celebrate the pope of trash's birthday we’ve put together a very special night featuring one of his most subversive films ever HAIRSPRAY (1988).
On the surface it might seem like a family-friendly box-office success, which spawned a smash-hit musical, but Waters calls it his ‘Trojan Horse’. Like all of his films, it’s an anti-authoritarian, pro-equality celebration of outsiders, but this one masquerades as a sweet-natured, 60s-set high-school movie.
Featuring Water’s legendary cast include Divine & Mink Stole plus turns from Debbie Harry and introducing to the world Ricki Lake it's Water’s in high camp mode.
To make the night something to really remember we’ll also be handing out prizes for the highest hair so come dressed to impress.
This will be a 75% capacity event and if you can it would be divine if you could wear a face covering during the film.
