Bill Drummond's Voices From The Galloverse at The Cube
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Sell out warning! Another exclusive cultish disturbance in the Cube x KLF continuum. 40 initiates are invited to experience Bill Drummond’s interpretation of Liverpool post-punk anthems through the mediums of counter-factual Gaelic Psalm, 35mm projections, communal interrogation and whiskey. A once in a lifetime mischievous happening, miss it and it’s gone…. "

The Cube's Feral* presentation of Bill Drummond's HEAR HARD : Voices From The Galloverse

HEAR HARD is an opportunity to hear - and then perhaps own - the long playing vinyl record 'Voices From The Galloverse' from Producer at Large, Bill Drummond.

Bill has supplied us with a small number of these vinyl records, along with some specific instructions.

The Galloverse is a re-imagining of the Post-Punk years in Liverpool (hence the pricing of £19.78, as in the year 1978).

Songs of the era are recast in a fictional, near future and technology-free version of Drummond's childhood home of Galloway in the far southwest of Scotland (hence 'The Galloverse')

In The Galloverse no forms of musical instruments exist. All music is made using the human voice, filtered through the way the Gaelic Psalm singing of the Wee Frees in the Western Isles of Scotland is performed.

As we have been instructed by Bill Drummond, attendance is limited to 40 people who will be known as 'The Congregation'.

It will have three acts

Act One: Involves our attempt to give you The Context to what VOICES FROM THE GALLOVERSE is.

Act Two: Involves those attending to listen to the whole of this long playing record in the darkness of the cinema, illuminated only by a projected loop of black 35mm cinema film, listening as hard as possible without interruptions.

Act Three: Involves a cross-examination by each of those attending by each of the others attending.

Following the acts there will be an opportunity for a small number of the attendees to take ownership of one of the limited number records the Cube has been issued.

This will involve a random selection process and disappointment for some is guaranteed.

Drams of Scottish whisky and a place around the fire pit in the Cube garden will be on offer to all.

Some emergence into The Context can be achieved prior to attending the event by listening to the following recordings by the following artists as ‘hard as possible’.
