Remember Tomorrow presents: Ikarie XB 1 at The Cube
£5 standard admission

A event held at The Cube on Sunday 11th May. The event starts at 20:00.

Blast off from 1963 and hitch a ride on starship Ikarie XB 1 on its perilous journey to another star. Remember Tomorrow proudly presents this space faring sci-fi, depicting a unified, scientifically advanced future in utopian vision and space-age optimism. The crew of Ikarie, when not matchmaking, dancing or working out, battle with the stress of the long mission across interstellar space whilst encountering cosmic hazards and dangerous relics of the 20th Century.

Jindřich Polák’s seminal work of fantasy cinema is an adaptation of a novel by Stanisław Lem, The Magellanic Cloud. With outstanding design and cinematography, and a superb score by Zdeněk Liška, Ikarie XB 1 is imbued with a seriousness, intelligence and attention to detail rarely seen in science-fiction cinema of the period; a triumph of avant-garde production design that served as a model for Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: a Space Odyssey and also influenced later productions such as Solaris and Star Trek.
"Remains one of the most original and exciting science fiction films ever made... packed with sublime moments unlike those of any film preceding it. A game-changing film that profoundly influenced the genre and showed that science-fiction movies weren't only about special effects; they were also high art. Of the hardest and most admirable kind" Alex Cox, The Guardian
