Evil Blizzard are a psychedelic monster from Preston, consisting mainly of four bass players and a drummer. After blowing everyone away at last year's Supernormal Festival, we are pleased to announce that tonight, for their Bristol debut, they are rescoring the 1922 classic H xan: Witchcraft through the Ages, a Swedish/Danish silent horror film written and directed by Benjamin Christensen. They first performed this last year for They Eat Culture in Preston, so we are excited that they are bringing this to the Cube.

What do they sound like? Well, think what would happen if Hawkwind mated with Public Image Ltd, then locked their unholy offspring under the stairs with doll heads, bass guitars and theremins; you are nearly there! But it doesn't end there, as we are screening a classic piece of early cinema.

H xan is based partly on Christensen's study of the Malleus Maleficarum, a fifteenth century German guide for inquisitors. It is a study of how superstition and the misunderstanding of diseases and mental illness could lead to the hysteria of the witch hunts. The film was made as a documentary but contains dramatised sequences that are comparable to horror films.

After they finish with that beast they will then unleash their greatest hits culled from the debut album The Dangers Of Evil Blizzard, out last year on Louder Than War Records!

So if you fancy a night of uneasy audiovisual delights, then head to your local microplex. You won't want to miss this!

Support tonight comes from Liverpool in the shape of Super Fast Girlie Show. Imagine Motorhead having it off with Big Black and you are pretty much there! Yum!

DJs till late.
