A
gig
held at The Croft
on Tuesday 14th October. The event starts at 20:00.
As autumn sidles slyly in, ready to hold summer's unsuspecting arms behind its back so that winter can beat it brutally into submission, come and commiserate at The Crofters Rights with another round of Shenanigans! Our October session will feature the following most excellent performing entities.
TOM CLUTTERBUCK
Tom is a brilliant standup comedian and one of the residents at Bristol-based literary cabaret night Kill Your Darlings. A veteran performer from the age of ten, when he won a dance competition at his dad's work Christmas party (the prize was a 7" single of Step By Step by New Kids On The Block), he was the first zombie to get shot in the head in Shaun of the Dead, although the scene was heavily cut so he was only in the finished film for a couple of seconds. He also once helped Marti Pellow from Wet Wet Wet set up his email account on his Blackberry, for which he was paid in chocolate jazzies.
ANNA FREEMAN
One of the funniest and most engaging performing poets around, as well as being a recently published author (her first novel, The Fair Fight, is out now), Anna has a reading age of 36 and knows a song about a helpful mouse. She doesn't actually have a helpful mouse but she would like one, if anyone has any leads. Prepare your brain to feel hugged.
Dexter Selboy & The Shonky Trio
When we asked our band for the evening for three facts about themselves, they told us the following:
1) The drummer is awesome
2) Everyone else in the band is not the drummer
3) Drums
Want to know more? You'd better come down.
TOM DENBIGH
Our second Tom of the evening is a charming, funny and humane poet who once worked in a lighthouse, and who thought - for years apparently - that his cat was actually his magically transformed older brother (spoiler alert - he doesn't have an older brother). His first Pokemon card was Tangela (blue spaghetti-lookin' critter) and he still has it.
STEF MO (4D TOTAL IMMERSION MULTIMEDIA SET)
Stef Mo is a word-based programme who is good at making things sound more impressive than they are actually going to end up being on the night.
THE SONS OF SHEILA
Our resident DJs will be rounding proceedings off, as always, with their tastefully-selected range of funk, soul and Afro-tinged vinyl treats. Which is all you need to know, really. Also, their mother's name is Sheila.
And all for the suggested donation of £3. Literally why are you still reading this and not hopping into the nearest time machine so you can head straight to the night.
