Roll over, roll over—for the next iteration of Underwire’s female/nb-focused musical event! Fresh off the back of their inaugural open mic in December and their first open jam last month, this music collective is now hosting a showcase to delight our sweet eardrums. Set in the ever-popular Crafty Egg (after their usual café hours—how exciting!), this event will bring together some of Bristol’s best up-and-coming performers within a gorgeous location.
bonVILLE
Within the rugged terrain of Bristol’s live music scene, bonVILLE’s sound feels like a cool dip in a river. Combining dreamy synths, pared-back beats and understated vocals, she delivers a clean, stylish take on alternative pop and folk. Since her last performance at Underwire, bonVILLE has also released her fantastic debut album Strip, so an acoustic set from this Nordic native is not one to miss.
Hibiscus
Hibiscus is making headway in Bristol’s rich neo-soul scene, so be sure to expect sumptuous vocals and soul-soothing guitar riffs from this exceptional duo. Like their floral namesake, their sound is warm, luscious and bright. What better place to experience this intimate set than among the greenery of the Crafty Egg? This one will sound and feel good.
ZIGGY2000
All hail Ziggy 2000 - candy princess and self-proclaimed rag doll. With her hushed tone, zany attitude and fairytale melodies, Ziggy is certainly not one to forget. Her vibrant, playful demeanour might seem at odds with the tear-jerking lyricism that she lays bare in her oeuvre. But with a valiant – yet bashful – honesty, Ziggy weaves together songs that bask in the contradiction of what it is like to be sensitive, brave, vulnerable, and most importantly, a girl.
Doors at 7:30, music 8-10:30.
Free entry until 9pm, tickets £3 after that.
