Sober Dance + Sound Bath at The Beehive Centre (BS5)
See event details

A event on Sunday 14th April. The event starts at 13:30.

Hey you, Glad you made it here. I'm LEXX, an embodied DJ and facilitator. I hold free-movement dances that begin with grounding, build up to reach maximum f!ck it release, and end with a soft landing. You can think of it like a wave - building, reaching a peak and gently washing out. I'm delivering this event with my dear friend Dunya, who will perform a sound bath to hug our nervous systems after the dance.

THE VIBE

This is a loving space held by two Queer facilitators, and everybody is welcome to join. You don't need to have any dance experience. In fact, the less technical you can be, the better! You choose how you dance and you can't get it wrong. Respect each other and yourself.

THE SCHEDULE

PLEASE ARRIVE FOR 1:45PM SHARP and be ready to drop the words. Doors close and we dive in at 1:50PM. If you can only attend in part, please let me via [email protected].

• 1:45-1:50PM: Arrivals + welcome.
• 1:50-3:20PM: Opening meditation + dance with LEXX.
• 3:20-4:00PM: Sound bath with Dunya.

ABOUT LEXX https://www.instagram.com/alexathedicewho (they/she)

LEXX whips the finest cross-genre music into sets that sweat and reset. Her dance floors are spaces where you can meet your struggle and release it all, spaces where gender gets bent and all beings are held in love. LEXX is an alumni and currently a coach on embodied DJ-ing programme Powerhouse DJ School, which you can find out more about here: https://www.phdj.dance.

ABOUT DUNYA https://www.instagram.com/dunyalamrhari (she/her)

Dunya is a Glastonbury-based DJ, musician, sound healer and podcaster. More about her soon. She feels the most intimacy with herself and the most aliveness in her being when expressing herself through music. Dunya loves performing in sober and queer spaces, celebrating uniqueness, diversity and creativity.

ACCESS

The Beehive Centre is fully accessible for wheelchair users. The hall in which the event is taking place is situated on the right as you enter the building. There are accessible toilets on the left as you enter the building.

Covid care: please don't come if you have any symptoms on the day. If you can, please do a lateral flow test on Sunday before coming. Unfortunately windows can't be opened in this space. Mask wearing is welcome.

If you have any access requirements, please contact me on [email protected].

WHAT TO BRING

The peak of Winter is with us, so I recommend that you bring a few layers which you can shed when you move and get warm, and put back on when you find stillness. You might want to bring a blanket and/or a yoga mat if you want to get cosy for the sound bath. I'll be offering some herbal teas, so if you'd like some, please bring a cup if you can to help reduce the post-event clean up.

TICKETS

The ticket prices reflect how much is needed to cover the venue and sound system hire, and to pay ourselves fairly for our time and skills. If money is a barrier to you joining at the moment, please get in touch via [email protected].

Entry requirements: no age restrictions (under 18s to be accompanied by an adult over 21yrs, 1:1 ratio)
