Join Compass on a time travelling escapade to the 1600’s where the Full Moon on Stokes Croft is a place of rest for you, a wearisome traveller. As the history books tell, there are bear-fighting shows in the Bear Pit, and a giant roams this part of town. For the Full Moon is the coaching inn of choice, if you’re visiting the travelling fair, spread all across Lewins Mead to the bottom of Stokes Croft. Step inside for a glimpse of some circus folk, and if the stars align, they may perform for you! Did you know, the Full Moon (still to this day!) holds a licence for female bare knuckle fighting?! Come on in and meet bare-knuckle Bessie, ringmaster-cum-bar-mistress, and at least one of her circussy entourage! Be in awe at fire stunts and juggling. Watch out that Bessie doesn’t steal you to run away with the circus!
This performance will last for approximately 15 minutes. Please click on the button above to purchase tickets to your preferred time slot.
This is a family friendly performance and children are permitted. Please book a ticket for each person in attendance - this includes children and babies in pushchairs.
Please arrive at least 5 minutes before the advertised show start time, although we encourage you to arrive even earlier and get yourself a drink from the bar at The Full Moon, which will be open as usual.
The event will be in the courtyard. Seating and standing will be undercover and the event will go ahead whatever the weather, but please wrap up warm!
This event is wheelchair accessible. The performance is informal, interactive and not stage-based. There is a mixture of standing and seated capacity. We aim to ensure that this event is accessible to all, but in order to do this we ask individuals to please contact us in advance to discuss specific access needs, so we can work with you to try and meet these ([email protected]).
