Basket Of Light 2023 at Tambourine Hands
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Basket of Light is possibly the best small (400 cap) festival to crop up in Wales (via Bristol). Boasting lighting installations, waged tickets + diverse sounds from the afrobeat / Latinx / global fusion realms (like Juanita Euka and Alvarezz) to hi-NRG club DJs (like Tash LC and Bushbby) and much more. It’s clear the attention here is on the experience, not the profit margin - so you’re in for a good time."

*** NEW TICKET PRICING STRUCTURE ***

We think the only way to create a truly open space is to sell tickets based on how much you earn, and what you own. Income and property ownership are the biggest social dividers in Britain - even though some of the most important jobs in our society receive the worst pay (support the strikes).

We believe it’s the way to go for all festivals that want to be fair and inclusive, while still making sure that every artist gets paid. It relies on your honesty.

*** Here’s how it works: ***

Your ticket to Basket of Light should equal 0.6% of your yearly income - with the cheapest ticket costing £60. So if you earn £10,000 or under a year, you pay £60 pounds. If you earn £23,500 your ticket is £141. If you earn £50,000 - your ticket is £300.

FORMULA = YOUR INCOME x 0.006 = YOUR TICKET PRICE

This way everyone contributes exactly the same to the festival in terms of their means.

FOR BASKET OF LIGHT TO GO AHEAD, THE AVERAGE TICKET PRICE NEEDS TO BE £132.

If you are a property owner, or are affluent with a low income because you’re studying, the lowest ticket price is also £132 - the average we need to make this work. If you earn more but have caring responsiblities or other challenges, please get in touch.

Lower income tickets are limited. Please only buy if this really applies to you. Again, we can only do this if you help us make this work so we can run the festival.

We welcome under 12s on site for free, please purchase a free ticket if you’re bringing children so we know how many to expect on site. Due to licensing reasons we are not allowed to have anyone between the ages of 12-21 on site. ID will be checked on entry this year!

If you have any accessibility needs, please give us a shout. We’re working to make the space as accessible as possible.

Secret location will be sent to ticket holders nearer the time. 3.5 hrs drive from London. 1 hr drive from Bristol. 1 hr drive from Cardiff

Camping:

There is a beautiful, quiet campsite where you can pitch your own tent.
