"A Cellar Door IWD special! Serpentine electro-avant-pop from Mui Zyu, who sends unsettling discordance slithering through sweetly melodic cradle songs of identity and alienation – a must-hear for fans of Caroline Polachek/Alex G/Grouper. Plus huge support from Electrelane & Wire alumni psych duo MEMORIALS and maximalist noise-jazz manglers For Breakfast."

Mui Zyu
As Mui Zyu, British Hong Kong artist Eva Liu searches for portals, wandering between nothingness and everything in the pursuit of peace. Her two critically acclaimed LPs ‘Rotten Bun for an Eggless Century’ and ‘nothing or something to die for’ released with Father/Daughter Records fuse themes of cultural displacement and escapism with sweet and sour harmonies. Blending phantasmagorical strings with tape-mangled drum machines and traditional Chinese instruments she creates unnerving sonic foundations where sugary pop melodies juxtapose on top creating an existential balm through music.
MEMORIALS
MEMORIALS is the dynamic duo of Verity Susman (Electrelane) and Matthew Simms (Wire, Better Corners, It Hugs Back, Uuuu, Fitted) crafting cosmic jams from the garden shed, where free jazz collides with psychedelic rock, folk, and wild analogue chaos.
For Breakfast
For Breakfast serve up a mind-bending mix of jazz, psych, and post-rock, blending dreamy chaos with cinematic grooves. Expect lush textures, hypnotic rhythms, and a feast for the ears.
