Dirtytalk: DJ Sotofett b2b LNS + Kavadi at Strange Brew
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Sotofett + Jimi Tenor + Kambo Super Sound @ the Brew in 2021 was the stuff of legend; the zany Norwegian's a masterchef for constantly shifting sounds and collaborators. And this night’s no different, with oddball dirty electro meets dubtech braindance from Sotofett & LNS; sparring with Kavadi’s live percussive club spirituals from the Tamil diaspora. Essential, potentially….legendary. "

Dirtytalk: Sotofett b2b LNS + Kavadi LIVE
Saturday 3rd Sept

9pm - 3am

DJ Sotofett b2b LNS

Sotofett at Dirtytalk is an annual tradition now etched in Bristol folklore, having played all-night solo sets three times, with his brother Fett Burger in 2013 & 16, with elder statesman Bjorn Torske in 2015 and all weekend at Strange Brew in 2021 alongside fellow Norwegians Jimi Tenor and Kamobo Super Sound. Tonight he goes B2B with longstanding production partner LNS. Dub, Afro and Jazz to Electro, Cluttered House, Disco, Techno and beyond - it's all in the party melting pot and stitched together in a style only these two know how.

LNS, originally from Calgary, Canada, has been an integral part of building Vancouver's underground music community, creating and DJing on point and under the radar events. Her DJing reflects influences rooted in Detroit and UK Techno, Braindance, and Electro, influences which are also apparent in her musical production. She has released on labels such as Wania, Freakout Cult, her own LNS, and most recently on Tresor Records alongside DJ Sotofett for their collaborative debut album.

Kavadi LIVE

காவடி (pronounced Kavadi) is a hinduistic ritual where the devotees physically, on their body, carry the allegiance and gratitude for Murugan, the God of war.

காவடி / Kavadi has together with DJ Sotofett produced a string of tracks for their upcoming EP on Tresor – as well as a fast paced and percussive dub-styled live set.

From the temple to the club scene காவடி explores the soundscape of the Tamil diaspora by depicting personal and collective memories through heavy bass, fast rhythms mixed with components of traditional temple drums, mythical stories and field recordings from the northern parts of Sri Lanka - all blended with unmistakable inspirations from Dub, Jungle and Hip Hop. FFO: Shackleton, Islam Chipsy, Peder Mannerfeld
