RED (host and live!)
Our host for the evening, Red - (the artist formerly known as Carmen Monoxide), of Drag Bingo fame, has been evolving (growing fins) over years since we last hosted her - she now wields a cacophony of singer-songwriter-producer-dance-choreographer talent, rest assured she is your hostess with the mostess.
CHELSEA MANNING (DJ set)
WikiLeaks hero/legend/icon takes a break from her book tour to shell down at Strange Brew: it’s Amens 4 Trans Pride with SNOG and TPSW
Chelsea Manning worked as an intelligence analyst for the U.S. military where she disclosed classified documents to WikiLeaks, revealing severe human rights abuses and corruption in U.S. invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan. After being sentenced to 35 years in a military prison for standing up for what’s right, she publicly identified as a trans woman and asserted her legal rights to medical care. Released early in 2017, she has continued her work as a technologist, network security expert, analyst, and activist, showing the world that through bravery and determination we can all act to make urgent change.
But there is another exciting side to Chelsea, now coming to light: in a recent interview with Anthony Fantano, Chelsea revealed that while studying at a military school in Wales, she would travel down to Bristol for DnB freeparties, where she discovered a love for DJing and rave culture that sowed the seeds for her political leap. When SNOG found this out and asked her if she’d come back once again to DJ at the official Trans Pride Afterparty, she was only too happy to complete the transition from intelligence agent to inSHELLigence SLAYgent for us <3

SARAHSSON (live ambient improv)
Hot off the back of her stunning FACT Mix, mercurial moss-girl Sarahsson will be playing a special ambient improv set in the Strange Brew back room
Sarahsson deals in extremes, drawing as much from the natural world as harsh noise and gore, conveying a demeanour at once poised and feral. Within her work, the Bristol-based producer, composer, costume designer and performance artist fuses ethereal experimentalism, neoclassical alchemy, abrasive hardcore and high-octane club into a visceral expression of divine queerness – as her debut album The Horgenaith encapsulates. For her performance at the Trans Pride afterparty, she brings an improv performance delving into the celestial side to her sound.

YAYA BONES accompanied by Magda Onatra (live)
Having performed at Thorny back in 2018, we’re excited to welcome Yaya Bones back to Bristol, performing with artist and drummer Magda Onatra.
The musical alter ego of London-based artist, musician and performer Bones Tan Jones, Yaya Bones writes protest music for witches, non-binary love songs and apocalyptic lullabies for the gestation phase of the nu-awakening. Their work is a spiritual practice that seeks to present an alternative, queer, optimistic dystopia via pop music, sculpture, alter-egos, digital image and video work.
Bones’ music conveys the meditative ritualism that their work is founded on – as evidenced on the transcendent Dust 2 Dust mixtape they released earlier this year; a mixtape brimming with tenderness, incandescent experimental pop sound collages and featuring an otherworldly reworking of Alice Deejay’s ‘Better Off Alone’.
BEANPIG PUPPETS (cabaret)
Following the adventures of Gary the green goblin and friends, Bean pig puppetry is a queer puppetry collective that believes in the life of all things, that change and transformation are possible in the body and in the world around us. And also that anything is possible if it’s made out of old curtains and foam!
MARIANA TRENCH (cabaret)
Mariana Trench, is the non-binary monarch bringing antique glamour with a punk edge to Bristol's drag scene. Mariana, famously once just the deepest ocean trench in the world, has now also made a name for themself through their powerful voice and big theatre kid energy. Truly one of our favourite drag artists in Bristol.
MISSTERSPOON (live)
Doing the important work of representing the noise enthusiasts of the transfemme community. Missterspoon may disrupt your evening with her hardwareheavy harsh-acid downerbeat-delirium.
ERNEST THE DRAG KING (cabaret)
Ernest is your not-so-typical posh boy. He may have a government job and trust fund from daddy, but he’s got a secret… Ernest has an absolutely massive penchant for partying with the queers! Despite claiming to try his hardest to avoid being the face of ANOTHER scandal, this devilish dandy cannot help himself but to shake his booty in defiance and destruction of his Tory father's nonsense. He just wants to party! And after all, it's important to be earnest.
JAYE WARD (ambient set)
With an unmatched technical prowess and canonic experience behind the wheels, Magical Real host Jaye Ward’s sets hath oft been the stuff of legend. More than pleased to have the PLU, Percolate AND Lovechild resident sonically guide us through the final three hours of A Future of Trans Rest in the backroom.
SNOG DJs
Seeing off the dance we have of course the three snogateers, Pet Bitch b2b Orderly Room b2b Candy Hurtzz, mopping up the remains after Chelsea’s set.
