The Bug presents ‘Machine', OKO DJ, CGC at Strange Brew
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Sell out warning! Soundsystem armageddon, dread apocalypse, The Bug unleashes Richter scale shattering hell in a live offering from his latest Machine rhythms. Dare we say, it’s his heaviest slab yet? Safely witness the end of days alongside OKO DJ’s mix of corroded acid and metal filth + Chewing Glass’ grind-adjacent dub smarts. Perfect. Ugly. Beauty. "

A clubnight held at Strange Brew on Saturday 26th April. The event starts at 22:30.

Strange Brew and Chewing Glass Collective’s Distortion Gospel event series link up to showcase The Bug’s latest musical offering: Machine.

The Bug is the principal outlet for Kevin Martin, the shape-shifting producer with an unrivalled reputation for his punishing live shows and a heavyweight catalogue of projects/collaborations including Techno Animal, King Midas Sound, Razor X Productions, and a longstanding alliance with firebrand London MC Flowdan.

This April 26th show will see The Bug performing a live set, based on the ‘Machine’ material, a collections of industrial dubs released last year on Relapse Records.

‘Machine’ marks The Bug’s heaviest exploration into industrial music to date, and it is not album that you want to hear - It’s one you want to FEEL; and on The Bug’s request, when ‘Machine’ is paired with the Firmly Rooted Sound System, you can have absolute faith that you will be consuming ‘Machine’ exactly as The Bug intended.

Supporting duties are headed up by globe-trotting, genre-blending, dancefloor oracle: OKO DJ.

Last time OKO hit strange brew she tore the place down with a mix of industrial techno, jacking riddims, and metallic chugs.

“OKO DJ has been on CGC’s Distortion Gospel wantlist since day dot so we’re beyond honoured to have her perform a set with our metal-adjacent soundsystem assault in mind.” - CGC.

Chewing Glass Collective will be pulling double duties at Strange Brew on the 26th of April: For the gig (directly prior to this Distortion Gospel club night) CGC will be supporting the USA’s HIRS Collective as a live band, before moving into the back room to warm up on the decks for The Bug.

Since day 1, a massive part of CGC’s ethos has been expressing their passion for sound system music, and metal, and finding the parallels that hide within it. This warm up set will reflect exactly that. Expect everything from Kryptic Minds, to Full of Hell, to JK Flesh.

This event will be powered by Firmly Rooted Sound System.
