Milan W. trio + Trystero + spirit blue at Strange Brew
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Impossibly majestic indie-pop meets woozy bedroom synth in a bittersweet combo cosmically destined for DIY immortality. Milan W’s utter mastery of 80s lovesick jangle and pitch-perfect Lee Hazlewood croon is a timeless swoon FFO: Felt, Field Mice, ML Buch, Kurt Vile, Mac DeMarco."

Strange Brew presents

Spirit Blue (NTS / London)
Trystero (Knekelhuis / Luxembourg)
Saturday 1st February
7pm - 10pm

Strange Brew presents a beautiful triple bill headlined by Belgium's incredible Milan W - whose album 'Leave Another Day' was Boomkat's #1 album of 2024...and we couldn't agree more.

Releasing on Nosedrip's ever-reliable Stroom label, Milan W's autumnal folky dreampop combines electronic-oriented guitar alongside haunted sax and heartbroken crooning. Described by Boomkat as 'a genius, instant classic entry to the pantheon of timeless, swoonsome diamonds with a heavy nostalgic/80’s lilt that places it somewhere between Felt, HTRK, CS + Kreme, early The Verve, or the most crushed Joanne Robertson & Dean Blunt jams. It’s just so, so good". Tonight he treats us to a full trio performance.

Trystero is Thomas Lea Clarke (aka MR TC), Low Bat and Nelly Placard. Bona fide cosmic travellers taking cues from sizzling acid, 1990s snap rhythms, post-punk, krautrock and shoegaze, their music is defined by fire-powered poetry and a unique stage presence, singing in a combination of Italian and English about love, loss, and class struggle and surreal wordplays

Completing the bill is London's excellent spirit blue made of Impey and Sleeper, whose sleepy, hazy dreampop EP desire machine / perfect storm has been racking up huge plays at Brew HQ.

Entry requirements: 14+, any under 18s accompanied by 21+ adult 1:1 ratio
