[STANDING SHOW]

We are super excited to present one of the most prominent bands from Lebanon's underground featuring the Beirut-based post-folk sextet whose sound blends noize-rock, free jazz and Arabic poetry

Beirut-based band SANAM's debut album from last year entitled Aykathani Malakon صنم – أيقظني ملاك (Awoken by an Angel) is a feast for the senses—an amalgam of krautrock, free rock, Arabic maqams, and poetry. The post-folk album unfolds slow and dreamlike, with echoing bells, resonating beats, and the melancholy melodies of the buzuq (a fretted string instrument with a pear-shaped body and long thin neck, popular in the folk music of the Levante)

"Beirut group Sanam’s debut record Aykathani Malakon blasts to life with its mix of low-tuned guitar jams, industrial drums, and earthy vocals – an immersive collection of dark and spacious textures” - The Guardian

“A gritty blend of noise rock, ambient textures and Arabic forms that cast the traditional material in a visceral new context" - The Wire

"Beirut-based freeform psych troupe SANAM make a convincing racket on their debut album, fusing Egyptian traditional songs with a heady tonic of free jazz, acid rock and DIY noise. Seriously ecstatic gear!" - Boomkat

Latest line up additions features Broadsheets, a Bristol-based trip-hop meets Nocturnal slowcore band, formed in 2022 by members of Ex-Agent, Vostok, and Rothmans. Featuring haunting soundscapes, both atmospheric and visceral with corroding guitars and brooding downtempo.

Noods resident Nahda will be on soundtracking duties throughout the evening
