"Palestine’s beats/trap scene is booming - so the first UK Muqata’a tour is a big deal and a triumph of music over borders. Schwet hosts the West Bank’s experimental hip-hop figurehead with a huge Discrepant Records showcase and Avon Terror Corps ruffians in orchestra formation.

A
clubnight
held at Strange Brew
on Friday 15th July. The event starts at 19:30.
Discrepant One of the most boundless labels Out There & a long time fav of the Schwets.
Muqata'a is rightfully heralded as the Godfather of Ramallah hip-hop. Since 2002 his seminal group 'Ramallah Underground' acted as a powerful influence for the Palestinian youth and in recent years has released mesmerising, experimental beat-tapes. Patchworks that bump thru; industrial, classical, dub, techno and noise. Spectral breakbeats splutter, glitch'd and limping with fizzy-feedback & fuzz. Witness a renegade ‘ardware master!
FFO: Flying Lotus, J Dilla, AFX, Peverelist, DJ Spooky.
LAGOSS are a three-headed ‘tropical-dystopian band’ comprised of Tinerfeño duo Tupperware and Discrepant honcho Gonzo. "Humid and dread-filled cyber-tropical fusion of field recordings, indolic atmospheres and glitch mulch.” O$MV$M fans gather round! Get out of the boat, we’re goin’ all the way…
Serpente (or is it Ondness?) is Bruno Silva; the Portuguese cubist-rhythm maestro. Channeling an 'ancient-futurist' agenda, his fluttering, percussive psychedelia is pure mind/body-moving beat-science. His latest 'Dias da Aranha' LP incl. collabs with Maxwell Sterling & Kelly Jane Jones! Bruno's work strikes me as a dancefloor-offshoot of the sorta polytempic dark-arts that Pekka Airaksinen was up to (RIP King).
Representing Avon, Them Terror Corps [Applause!]. Since arriving into our orbit, nu-bard/refusenik @bipedbiped has been a constant source of intrigue and inspiration. Setting in motion a wave of posi-fury and producing some of the most vital sounds in Bristol the last couple years, they'll be unleashing sounds from those new EPs at this show.
FFO: Leila, Mica Levi, Curl Recs, Gescom, Tricky.
Warming up the hordes: DJs YOKEL vs. KINLAW for the most Pheasantry neck-snap beat-off B2B since 1066!
