DHP Presents
Rosie Lowe
+ special guests
Friday 11th April
7pm - 10pm

Debuting with her EP Right Thing in 2013, over the last decade the Devon-born, Deptford-based Rosie Lowe has carved out a space as one of British music’s most idiosyncratic artists. Her debut album, 2016’s Control, and 2019’s follow-up YU, released via Paul Epworth’s Wolf Tone label, earned critical acclaim with features in the Guardian and British Vogue as well as support from Radio 1 and 6Music. Her
effortless, instantly recognisable vocals also brought attention from her peers, spawning collaborations with artists including Jay Electronica, Little Simz, Machinedrum and Lil Silva amongst others and a sample by hip-hop goliaths Future & Juice Wrld on ‘No Issue’. Now an independently signed artist, having moved to Blue
Flowers in 2020, and is enjoying a renewed sense of creative liberty as a result. Able to take a step back from the pressure of hard deadlines, and to focus instead on creatively progressive work, the earliest result was a joint album with close friend Duval Timothy, 2021’s Son, where the pair used her vocal as an instrument to create otherworldly harmonies and abstract acapellas. The album was labelled “a record of superhuman beauty” by Pitchfork and “a moving meditation on the human voice” by Loud & Quiet. Produced mainly in Freetown, Sierra Leone, Lowe found herself exploring new forms of artistry, stepping outside her comfort zone to paint a children’s book with Timothy that went alongside the album. Son was a joyful, full circle moment for Lowe having started her career creating all-vocal music whilst studying at Goldsmiths. “It reignited my love of the music I'd come from, and the
rawer side of making music,” she says
