“Cèilidh (/ˈKAY-lee’, Scottish Gaelic: [ˈkʲʰeːlɪ]) or céilí : a traditional Scottish and Irish social gathering. Social visit or party involving the vigorous dancing of jigs and/or sharing of song to lively music.”
Much loved in his Monsieur Le Bon Bon incarnation, Kevin is a generous space holder who weaves little anecdotes and hilarious social commentary around traditional ceilidh cues in a way that’s pretty much a joy to behold. We’ll dance, play games, learn some circle songs from various traditions and flop down to a fresh daal & rice dinner cooked up by CP’s in house chef Joey between the dances. If you’re new to folk/circle/ceilidh dancing you are especially welcome.
Within the tech-heavy landscape of our modern lives, these old traditions can be so beautifully fun to remember and preserve - bringing us back to the simple joy of collective movement with our community. So we’ll get familiar with Gaelic & Irish group dances like the Swedish Masquerade and Heel & Toe Polka in bouncing, swirling circles and lines to cèilidh folk music and live vocals. So fun and so Summer.
