Tiny Chapter is the alias of Bristol based composer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Alun Elliott-Williams. Having developed a reputation for himself as the virtuoso guitarist and pedalboard brain-box of heavy electronic outfit Waldo’s Gift, his solo project sees him create a sound-world that dissolves the boundaries between western art music, electronic ambient and film score. In this solo show you are invited to commune with him as he creates a large-scale composition in the moment, a deeply rooted ritual in which the music is transformed by the presence of the audience and the nature of the space itself.
'Your Me', for the first time performed in Bristol, is a one-act musical that weaves Opera, Musical Theatre, Folk songs and monologue in a lighthearted exploration of loneliness by singer and playwright, Amy Jansen.
"This show is a masterclass of voice and character. Amy sings from her soul, and the control she has over her voice allows her to slip between the ethereal and sombre with ease"
"'Your Me' feels like a deep and meaningful conversation I had with a friend over a red wine. Cosy yet emotional, with waves of laughter that teeter on the verge of tears."
Amy Jansen, New Zealand-trained operatic soprano, vocalist, and playwright, has been performing on stage, both as an actor and singer, for over 20 years. 'Your Me' is a reduced version of the performative element of her 2016 Masters research, 'How does performance facilitate self-knowledge? An autoethnographic exploration of loneliness'.
Live visual art will be created in response to the music.
This is the second event of the 'Relativity: a contemporary musical experience' series curated by Fabio Ferri and David Mowat, with the mission of delivering new sounds and performances that challenge the boundaries we find between genres, between music and the other forms of art, between performers and audience, in the powerful and incredibly balanced acoustics of St Stephen's Church. Positive change and community spirit are at the centre of the series of events. In the latest edition acclaimed artists such as Sean Noonan and Enrico Merlin played.
St Stephen's Church is a heated space, and in addition blankets and hot drinks will be provided.
