Caoilfhionn Rose at St George's Bristol

A gig held at St George's Bristol on Thursday 10th April. The event starts at 20:00.

Caoilfhionn (say ‘Keelin’) Rose’s third album on Matthew Halsall’s Gondwana label is a stunning artistic coming-of-age, a vital, original, searching expression inspired by the wonder of nature’s beauty. Rose has found a voice at once ancient and modern, rooting her sound in both jazz and folk, creating a magical, otherworldly space of her own imagining. At times almost cinematic, Constellation features gentle, dreamy vocals, bass, drums and keyboard, with a delicate saxophone colouring the fringes of most of its songs. “I love being open to collaboration,” Rose enthuses, “and the record’s a collage, knitting together all these influences, sounds and players, and just really going for it with the experimentation in the production.” Quietly celestial and full of wonder, this music shimmers with the sublime beauty of a glittering night sky.
