See event details

A gig held at St George's Bristol on Thursday 1st May. The event starts at 19:30.

Mahan Esfahani is one of the leading harpsichordists of the day. He has made it his life's mission to rehabilitate the harpsichord in the mainstream of concert instruments, and to that end his creative programming and commissioning new works have won the hearts and minds of critics and audiences across the world.

He was the first and only harpsichordist to be a BBC New Generation Artist (2008-2010), a Borletti-Buitoni prize winner (2009), and a nominee for Gramophone's Artist of the Year. In 2022, he became the youngest recipient of the Wigmore Medal, in recognition of his significant contribution and longstanding relationship with the Hall. He has performed at St George’s a number of times to widespread acclaim; his collaboration with Manchester Collective – playing Bach and Joseph Horowitz’s Jazz Harpsichord Concerto – was extraordinary and unforgettable.

This concert will have a shortish interval after the Rameau and before the Goldberg Variations, which last approximately 75 minutes long.

Entry requirements: 14+
