James Storm
Kenyan-born, Bristol-based singer & multi-instrumentalist 'James Storm' has developed a flare for heartfelt, emotive, genre-bending performances, and is rapidly establishing himself as a ‘one-to-watch’ within Bristol's music scene.
His signature sound - born of a love of sound-painting & imagery - delves into landscapes & elaborate canvases, weaved in song. James draws upon Soul, Jazz, Ambient Electronic & Afrobeat genres to underpin his dynamic live band's sound.
Since their recent inception, James Storm & band have been enthralling audiences across Bristol venues & South-West festivals alike - highlights include: supporting ‘Tru Thoughts’ label’s Tara Lily at Rough Trade; Live at ‘How The Light Gets In’ Festival; Live at The Gallimaufry; supporting ‘Pocket Sun’ at The Jam Jar.
James has performed on renowned stages across europe, including Sonar - Lisbon, Shambala, Boomtown, The Jazz Cafe, and collaborating with the likes of GROVE, t l k & Bethany Ley.
Bethany Ley
Bethany Ley is a Bristol-based producer, composer, and vocalist known for crafting intricate and ethereal arrangements that blend their classical background with electronic music. Originally trained in piano, viola, and voice, Ley’s influences span Classical, Folk, Jazz and contemporary electronic music.
They have performed frequently with Ishmael Ensemble (BBC6 Album of the Year) and collaborated with artists such as Alabaster DePlume, Waldo’s Gift, Batu and Adrian Utley of Portishead. Notable live appearances include Southbank Centre (supporting Kae Tempest), Glastonbury Festival’s West Holts, and The Jazz Café as well as international shows at Iceland’s unique Hátidni Festival and in Italy at Pordenone’s infamous venue Ex Convento di San Francesco.
Their long-awaited Debut EP ‘Sundial’ was released with Lo Recordings in May 2024, showcasing their fusion of electronica, field recordings, and Gamelan. The EP earnt quick support from BBC Radio 6 and Electronic Sound Magazine who describes the EP as “arrangements of delicate intricacy, and effervescent simplicity, woven through with unique vocals”. Ley creates "digital gardens and immersive soundworlds” (The Tonearm) offering a fresh hypnotic entanglement of modernity and tradition.
Having collaborated in many forms & iterations prior, this event is a recombination of transients, showcasing the artists’ current forms & journey, for your mind & bodies to indulge in.
