A
gig
on Saturday 1st March. The event starts at 20:00.
‘Americana meets Electronica’ Hangover Square present a
performance of original songs, atmospheres and found sounds in the Pulp
Room at St Anne’s House. Bristol-based duo Victoria Bourne and Chris
Harper (residents of St Anne’s since 2021) combine songs from their 2024
album ‘Rewire’ (which made the Bristol 24/7 list of top releases of the year),
with both new material and found sounds recorded in the local area.
Expect evolving cityscapes and distorted conversations overlapping and
alternating with songs and instrumentals. In a performance of continuous
sound there will be live electronics, layered vocals, loops and slide guitar
combining to create atmospheric soundscapes and seamless transitions.
There will be some seating but feel free to move around.
This is the first in a trilogy of related performances called 'Cityscapes' that each utilise found sound recordings from the areas in which the gigs occur.
‘Rewire’ included on Bristol 24/7’s list of top releases of 2024.
