A
gig
on Wednesday 9th July. The event starts at 20:00.
On Wednesday 9 July, Cuculi Presents an evening with Kate Griffin and Matchume Zango in St Anne's Church, Greenbank, with support from local folk composer Tamsin Elliott.
Both highly respected artists in their own right, Kate Griffin (UK) and Matchume Zango (Mozambique) explore the sophisticated rhythms of their respective traditions through interlocking banjo and timbila (a traditional xylophone of the Chope people). The result is a thrilling cross-cultural conversation and a distinctive set of original tunes and songs - sheer delight for the listener.
We're pleased to welcome back prolific Bristol-based composer Tamsin Elliott (Hedera, Tarek Elazhary, Frey) for a solo set which, we hear, might contain some new pieces she's been working on...
Tickets for the gig are on sale now, at three pricing levels:
General - £13
Community supporter - £16
Low income - £10
We ask that those who make more than £25k per year consider opting for Community Supporter as this allows us to subsidise low income tickets.. We consider low income to apply to those who earn less than £15k per year, but we don’t ask for any proof.
St Anne's is wheelchair-accessible. If you require any further information regarding accessibility, please email us at [email protected] and we will endeavour to provide clarity & assistance.

TAMSIN ELLIOTT
Tamsin is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and film-maker with roots in
the traditional dance tunes of the British Isles. Her debut solo album FREY
(Penny Fiddle Records, 2022) established her as a rising star on the folk
scene, with The Guardian praising her "beautiful, filmic compositions for
accordion, harp, whistle and voice”. Exploring themes of chronic illness and
environmental grief, FREY offers a poignant reflection on the human
experience, whilst her forthcoming album The Meeting Tree celebrates
connection, nature and the joy of sharing tunes with friends.
"Such music can offer clarity while the chaos of life threatens to engulf
us" - Folk Radio UK
