Tom Hallam: Paper Bottles, Paper Batteries and Bag at Smoke and Mirrors

A event on Wednesday 26th February. The event starts at 19:30.

Bristol Skeptics in the Pub presents a talk by Tom Hallam

Tom will explore how new paper technologies can reduce the use of plastic and lower the carbon footprint of brand owners and retailers worldwide.

The talk will also address broader environmental questions. If using paper boosts demand, doesn’t that mean paper companies will plant more trees, in which case it is actually beneficial to the environment to consume paper? Or do the paper companies just cut down virgin forests? Is reducing and recycling the answer? Tom will present several perspectives.

What is Skeptics in the Pub?

In 1999, Dr Scott Campbell founded Skeptics in the Pub. The group was created for those interested in science, history, psychology, philosophy, investigative journalism and how to examine extraordinary claims of all types. Initially only in London, there now be over 100 SitP groups around the world.

The Bristol meeting is presented by the Bristol Skeptics Society, formed in 2009. We meet on the fourth Wednesday of the month in the Smoke & Mirrors bar on Denmark Street.
