For the sophomore screening of the Indie Classics Film Club, we’ll be screening LA STRADA (1954) by legendary Italian director Federico Fellini, at 19:00 at the Sidney and Eden pub on Tuesday December 17th!
The third film in Fellini’s career, La Strada was his artistic breakthrough, that saw him shake off the shackles of the conventions of naturalism that were the expectations from Italian cinema at the time, towards something more poetic and personal.
The brilliantly expressive Giulietta Masina (who was also Fellini’s wife) stars as the child-like Gelsomina, who is taken by her brutish husband Zampano (Anthony Quinn) as part of a travelling circus traversing the country.
Entry is free, and the film will start at 19:00, in the downstairs room of the Sidney and Eden (BS7 8NU). All are welcome to stay and chat over a post-film drink afterwards!
