6161 is a surge of fiercely drum led and brass heavy alt jazz, its the brand new project of Bristol local Matt Stockham Brown who has previously received critical acclaim winning a Montreux Jazz Festival talent award in 2019, releasing two albums with Run Logan Run and most recently a 5 star Guardian review with Daniel Inzani’s triple release and sell out tour with Cosmo Sheldrake. Matt has also recorded/performed globally with the likes of Massive Attack, Rodriguez, This Is The Kit, Gregory Porter, Liz Lawrence, Cloth, Get The Blessing, Marc Ford, Squirrel Flower, Ghostpoet any many more.
This exciting original line up of Drums, Synths and a four piece horn section is not to be missed. 6161 singles will be dropping from January and the full self titled debut album will be released in March on Severn Songs label.
Annie Gardiner
Annie Gardiner is an experimental musical artist, songwriter and producer with a second solo album 'Sleeping Dogs’ on the way.
After finishing a UK tour with Beak> in her noise-rock band Hysterical Injury, Annie wanted to explore music that could be both intensely quiet and earthly heavy without the stack of bass cabs and fuzz pedals in her usual toolkit.
She rediscovered the nylon string acoustic her Dad gave her as a teenager, set up a mic, piled on the reverb and out came the demos for her debut solo album ‘Bloodletting’. Finally, released in 2021, equipped with string arrangements and field recordings, it earned critical acclaim in Wire Magazine, and tour support with Billy Nomates at the behest of Geoff Barrow (Portishead, Beak>).
With a second solo album, ‘Sleeping Dogs’ at the vinyl manufacturers as we speak, we can expect more quietly weighty atmospheres out on Crystal Fuzz Records in 2025.
